Versa-Drill Sells Tenth Drill Rig To Indiana Contractor
“Our customers have come to expect that we’re going to use the latest and greatest stuff,” says Josh Abdnour, owner of C&J Well Drilling of Brownsburg, Indiana. “This is our tenth drill with Versa-Drill; we have a lot of confidence in them.”
Laibe Corporation of Indianapolis, manufacturer of Versa-Drill rigs, sold a V-125X to the well and geothermal contractor for both commercial and residential customers. The driller employs about 20 workers.
“The Fastest Mud Rotary In The Country”
“Over time,” Abdnour says, “Versa-Drill has listened to our needs and produced machines that meet them. They’ve custom-delivered according to our needs.”
Abdnour has more than 50 years’ experience with drilling rigs.
“I shouldn’t say this, because I don’t want my competitors to find out about them, but I kinda think we might have the fastest mud rotary in the country,” he says.
The Versa-Drill V-125X
The V-125X uses Versa-Drill’s direct cylinder-drive feed system and a variable two-speed top head. It provides up to 25,000 pounds (111.2 kilonewtons) of pullback, 22,100 pounds (98.3 kilonewtons) of pulldown, and 26 feet (7.9 meters) of top head travel.
The rig supports 20-foot (6.1-meter) lengths of drill rod in diameters of either 3 inches (76 millimeters) or 3.5 inches (89 millimeters), with respective carousels of 11 or 10 rods. The V-125X can supply up to 25 gallons per minute (95 liters per minute) through its auxiliary hydraulics system. It has various options for its mud pump, main winch, and secondary winch.
The V-125X comes mounted on a Peterbilt 348 chassis with a 350-horsepower (261-kilowatt) Paccar engine, a 10-speed manual transmission, and 6x4 drive. An all-wheel-drive configuration is optional, as are super single tires and an automatic transmission.
