    About Downhole Equipment

Downhole equipment consists of a wide range of tools used for a variety of drilling applications deep underground, including initial well drilling, well completion, cementing, fishing out extra equipment, and much more. These tools are also commonly used during the exploratory and pre-drilling phases to bring samples to the surface and analyze the makeup of the reservoir. Some operations use downhole gauges that capture pressure and temperature readings inside the well to monitor conditions and prevent damage to important drilling components.

    DOWS

There is also a relatively new system called a downhole oil-water separation (DOWS) that can separate oil and water at the bottom of a well rather than having to pull the underground water to the surface, separate it, and then reinject it. A DOWS system completes these tasks without ever bringing it to the surface, a process that is considerably more efficient and reduces the risk of negative environmental impacts including the contamination of drinking water.

Find The Right Tool For You

You will find a large selection of new and used downhole equipment at OilFieldTrader.com, including blowout preventers, ram blocks, and other components from Cameron, Flowserve, Hydril, Ingersoll Rand, Shaffer, Sulzer, and others. Cameron, for example, developed the first blowout preventer for the oil and gas industry back in 1922 and its annular BOPs are popular solutions to stop crude oil, natural gas, and other substances from bursting out of the well.

Other common downhole tools include break out and makeup equipment, bumper subs, cable reels, spools, wire rope, casing bushings, running tools, and scrapers, catheads, cement heads, centralizers and turbolizers, centrifugal pumps, centrifuges, drill bits, and other miscellaneous components.
